An upgrade has been made by Google, I guess one can say just in time for Microsoft's release of their MS Office 2010 (web suite).
I honestly don't care about who is 'better' in all of this, however, I do enjoy the options (read: Free) Google has brought to the table. I currently use Google Docs for a project I am involved with at the moment, and so far, working on a team and using tens of documents (mostly spreadsheets, few documents) and needing to share information nationwide, it has been great to use. The organization (where everything is located, how the app was designed) Google Docs provides, and more importantly, its ease of use (being that no one has really spent more than 6 months using this web app collection). I can't really speak on Microsoft's office (web) suite as I have not had the chance to play around with it.
General Aesthetics and Users: all of the spreadsheet tabs and menus (help menus too) are all based on how your browser 'windows' you into the experience, but with that said, the experience of using Google Docs has actually made me felt, and forget that I am using the browser to 'do work'. Buttons and menus and tabs are all placed in obvious places, and as mentioned, the Help docs are all very easy to follow. This is a web app I actually now want to share with my mother - currently I have her using the OpenOffice productivity suite by Oracle/Java. My hope is that I will share up about 300+ MB from her hard drive and make it a little faster (by not using Java) and instead do everything she does with documents and the suite, online. Hmmm....
